Instructor: Jeff Whipple

jeff.jpg Jeff is a former classroom teacher at Nashwaaksis Middle School in Fredericton. With a personal commitment to the innovative use of technology and emerging web 2.0 tools to create dynamic 21st century learning environments for learners, he is currently on secondment to School District 18 as a Technology Learning Mentor for 1:1 student laptop initiatives at Devon Middle School and Central New Brunswick Academy, where he is busy supporting teachers and students to use technology for learning.

Widely recognized for his leading role on educational technology in his school, Jeff has made many presentations to colleagues on the use of technology in the classroom, developing 21st century literacy skills and the use of web 2.0 tools in dynamic learning environments. He has twice been invited to speak at the internationally renowned Laptop Institute in Memphis, Tennessee, the International Society for Technology in Education in Denver, CO and was featured in the November/December 2006 edition of Ed Tech Magazineas a leader of the highly successful 1:1 student laptop program at Nasis Middle.

Twice a graduate of the University of New Brunswick (BScEng (Geol), '87; BEd '02), Jeff brings an eclectic professional background to his current role as a teacher, including the engineering, media, project management and non-profit sectors.

He is currently an MEd student and is excited to be starting his thesis research under the supervision of MMI Director Dr. Lynda Doige.
